The past week, I went into a dark hole. It was an intense spiritual battle that I had to fight alone. As the saying goes, before a breakthrough comes, there is pushback from the enemy. So I am guessing wonderful things will happen next week when I attend the Creative Identity Conference by YWAM and then set up a booth to sell Shema Rhema merchandise during the main conference (3-5 June) at Bethesda (Bedok-Tampines) Church. Look out for new products!
I cannot say enough about how God has led me, step by step, to create each Shema Rhema merchandise without planning a full product range. There are many reasons or stories behind each product, but one thing I know: these products gave me a reason to set up a booth to meet and talk to different people in His kingdom. So I reckon there will be some divine connections to be made in this coming conference.
With this, I was reminded of a post about divine connections I drafted in mid‑April. I’ve had more interesting encounters in the first few months of 2026 than in the whole of 2025.
After a medical appointment, I decided to walk to the MRT station instead of taking the SGH shuttle bus like usual. I was a bit confused about the way, so I asked a nurse nearby. Turned out, she was also on the way to the station. So she asked me to follow her, and so I did, and we talked and connected. She was on the way home after a night shift, and I learned more about her life. At the end of the conversation, she left me with a ‘God bless you’. It was as if God had woven our paths together at just the right time, and for a brief moment, we became angels He provided for each other.
On another occasion, my daughters and I went to a part of the neighbourhood we seldom go to. They were playing at the playground while a mother and son were playing badminton on the side. I was so engrossed in my book that when I looked up again, my daughter was playing badminton with the mother instead of her son. Later, when I talked to the mother, she was a Sunday school teacher in a church I’ve been meaning to visit!
And in the third encounter, I wanted to work on my laptop while my daughter attended a birthday party at Suntec City. But because it was a public holiday, I walked the entire mall and still couldn’t find a decent place to sit and work. I was in the toilet, when I made an almost desperate plea/prayer for a place to settle down because I was carrying my heavy laptop around.
I couldn’t believe it, but after I exited the toilet and walked a corridor back into the mall, there in front of me was a somewhat empty corner inside the crowded Koi Signature. It literally felt like a provision of light at the end of the tunnel. But that only empty table was very close to another person, so I wondered if it was actually available. I hesitated to take it, but decided to take that step of faith and ask the lady if the table was taken. It wasn’t, and she turned out to be super friendly!
We had a conversation like we were friends. As we talked, I felt that familiar sense of connection like with the nurse. Somewhere in the conversation, she mentioned 上帝 (God). Part of me wanted to continue talking with her, but another part of me felt the pull to get my work done, and my body language showed. Looking back, I wish I had been more people‑oriented and connected further with the person God had placed right in front of me.
These three encounters felt like the miracle of water turning into wine — the quiet, almost hidden kind of miracle some guests never even noticed. Not dramatic like raising the dead or healing the sick, but a slow‑burn encouragement that God is around and still at work in my life.
Since I am at it, I will add one more miracle or provision to encourage you and my future self who will read this. One day, it dawned on me that my husband and I were long overdue for a date. Then, in a WhatsApp group, someone was looking to sell tickets for the Lao Jiu musical, including two tickets for my children to attend a related workshop at the same time. We wouldn’t have watched it if not for the good discount on the tickets. As if that wasn’t enough, the show was incredible. It spoke to me on so many levels, moved me to tears many times, and it touched my husband, too.
Of all the people in the world, God had divinely chosen and orchestrated specific people to cross my path at the right time.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.
Psalm 37:23 (NKJV)
Walking in this dark valley, it’s good to look back on the goodness of God to see He has never left nor forsaken me.
Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,
1 Chronicles 16:12 / Psalm 105:5 (NKJV)
Is there any recent miracle you would like to thank God for? Do share in the comments.
